“The biggest unexpected benefit was the renewed energy I had as the clutter left my house”
Space: Entire Home
We have accomplished a lot…Thinking about the entire project seemed overwhelming, but once we broke it down, it became pretty clear which stuff was easy to part with. Those first several weeks, Leah left each time with her car completely packed with my give-aways, or with items that she was going to sell for me.
I had worked with an “organizer” before, and she voiced strong opinions about what my husband needed to do with his “stuff”. Leah assured me that she had no agenda for my husband, and that has been my experience as we have worked together. (But my husband has occasionally offered up a bin or two of his “stuff” when he knows Leah is coming!)
I liked that Leah is not pushy. When I get overwhelmed or frustrated, Leah stays calm and suggests that we just take one step..one item at a time. Once I get back on track, the frustration leaves and is replaced with the satisfaction at making progress. There’s a lot of spirituality that emerges in the process, and I appreciate that Leah is able to tune into and move with that.
The biggest unexpected benefit was the renewed energy I had as the clutter left my house. I hadn’t played piano or guitar for over a decade, but as the clutter left, I began to sort through those bins, and my energy for playing music returned. A year later, I am now enjoying weekly guitar classes at the Old Town School of Folk Music. What a wonderful surprise consequence of decluttering.
When I talk with friends about decluttering, I think their first hesitation is that someone will force them to part with things before they are sure they want to. People should know that that is not Leah’s approach. She has never imposed any attitude of having her own agenda for my stuff. Leah just keeps encouraging me to stay with the process and look at the next thing/or category. Then the decisions pretty much make themselves.

"Since we finished my session, I have done more traveling and taken tons of pictures. Just recently, I finished organizing 17 days of photos from India, using Leah’s steps. Wow!!!"
Space: Digital Photos and Music
Before contacting Leah, I had the same hesitations I always had about technology—why is it so difficult, why can’t I get it? How come other people intuitively seem to know how to do technology related things? And there was always a little bit of embarrassment.
Leah seamlessly taught me how to take my paper music charts, scan them into my Mac and then download them into my iPad to an App she had researched and found for me. The other huge project was my photos. I had so much anxiety over so many years about not understanding/being unable to implement the learning I was given by friends and also at the Apple store. As I acquire new music, I am able to add it to my iPad and it’s so empowering. Also, since we finished my sessions, I have done more traveling and taken tons of pictures. Just recently, I finished organizing 17 days of photos from India, using Leah’s steps. Wow!!!
My technology learning curve is soaring right now. Because I was able to understand how to organize my photos (something I obsessed about forever), that gave me the confidence to approach other challenging technology issues. I approach each new technology question with confidence and curiosity, instead of with panic and fear.
I talk about Leah all of the time. I have given her contact information to a few people already. What’s interesting is that they can’t seem to call because they are so disorganized!! They feel that they have to get certain things done before they make the call. I feel like Leah has such a wonderful service to offer people. I tell the people in my music world about the iPad with hundreds of songs. I know people need the same technology assistance I needed.
It’s difficult to say what I liked best about Leah because I liked everything about her. She is patient, sweet, smart and kind. Her voice is encouraging and assuring and I never felt judged. She was authentically as happy for me as I was for myself. Leah is highly organized, very quick to do research to handle a problem, quick to respond to emails and easy to schedule time together.

“Busy people will benefit from this! Appropriate suggestions based on the amount of time.”
Space: Baby Room and Kitchen
I was nervous to show Leah the messiest parts of my home and thus myself. But she quickly made me feel at ease. She doesn't seem to see mess - she sees opportunity.
I had been putting off organizing two spaces in my home because they seemed too big... Leah made the most appropriate suggestions based on the amount of time I was able to spend working on this. She also broke down my goals into smaller manageable tasks.
Leah was very thoughtful in her suggestions to rearrange things, or consider getting rid of things. She saw the forest through the trees.
I absolutely recommend these services - I like that she made suggestions for me to work on things before or between sessions to get a head start. She didn't try to maximize the amount of 'billable hours' with me. She is very professional while also being kind.
Also, busy people will benefit from this! Leah is super efficient with time and she hauls the stuff away that they don't want. That is always a huge pain in the butt, especially in a city where not everyone has a car and not all your crap will fit into one of those mailbox donation things. :)
Leah’s training as a counselor helps with this work too. She is patient, empathetic, and good at helping others set and achieve goals. She actively listened to my concerns - really excuses - and offered her ideas. She never criticized or made me feel ashamed of the state of my home. I appreciated that.
Leah seems to experience genuine happiness at helping people organize their homes.

"I don’t have to hold everything in my mind anymore - I now have a system to organize"
I recommend Leah’s organization sessions for anyone who is new to their career or hasn't learned these types of skills yet. I truly feel that they have changed my life. I don’t have to hold everything in my mind anymore - I now have a system to organize my schedule, papers and work tasks.
I felt that Leah was able to match my pace. I was previously worried or had worked with people that went too fast for my comfort. This would make me feel uncomfortable and hesitant to ask for things to be repeated. I didn't feel this in my sessions with Leah - she was very patient, made me feel confident and that I could make the changes I needed to organize my work life.
Leah helped me learn how to break tasks down in a more manageable way, which really changed everything for me. She also helped me transfer the skills I learned to apply in my work to other parts of my life.

“Super helpful to have someone (in a helpful and encouraging way) help you reorganize and de-clutter your stuff. It can be overwhelming on your own.”
Space: Bedroom, Closet, Decorating post-move
We were able to clean out my closet and get things out that I should have parted with long ago. Also- I really enjoyed decorating my apartment with Leah and getting her feedback on where things would go based on what kind of look I was going for.
Leah is very calming through the process and helps alleviate any anxieties that come up about getting rid of things. It was a very smooth process and she was very patient in listening to my thought process.
I recommend her all the time to people, even clients that I see in my work. I think its super helpful to have someone (in a helpful and encouraging way) help you reorganize and de-clutter your stuff. It can be overwhelming on your own.
Leah’s clinical skills really help make the process so easy, she takes her time to listen to people and really hear what the person wants.

“With the free consultation and estimate, I knew exactly what I was going to get and how long it would take before I even committed. This is great for anyone feeling overwhelmed by their stuff or lack of systems.”
Space: Kitchen and Pantry
I'm always a little hesitant to hire people for services when they are open-ended because I don't know how much money I'll end up spending in the end to get the result I want. However, Leah provided a free consultation and estimate for her organizational service, so I knew exactly what I was going to get and how long it would take before I even committed.
We cleaned up and organized my pantry and made it so much more usable...My pantry had become kind of a catch all for food, work stuff, and appliances. Leah helped me re-do the whole space systematically in less than 2 hours.
I loved having a clear outline of what I was going to get and how we were going to get there. Also I LOVE that Leah’s process didn't require me to buy any equipment or tools. We worked with what I already had.
I was motivated to keep my pantry organized and move on to other rooms! I realized that I was holding on to a lot of stuff that I didn't really need too.
I think anyone feeling overwhelmed by their stuff or lack of systems would love working with you. Particularly anyone who has a challenging or cramped space.
Leah totally approaches organizing with her counselor mindset! I felt so taken care of, and I loved that she could predict what I'd be thinking and feeling and could relax me. Since this organization process was a team effort - it was so nice to work with someone who was both kind and fun too.

"My expectations were met and exceeded! I used to cringe when opening my closet door and now I smile!"
Space: Living Room, Kitchen, Bedroom, Closets
I didn't know what to expect when we started. I wanted to declutter and reorganize my living space; however, I was overwhelmed by the enormity of the project. I felt like I didn't know where to start! I tried and failed many times to get started on my own.
And honestly, I was worried that I would be embarrassed. I'd lived in my apartment for many years and accumulated so much stuff! Could I open the "junk" drawer or the scarily full closet in front of another person and go through everything?
Leah allayed all of my fears and once we got started, I never gave it a second thought. She really took the time to listen to me and understand my goals. She kept me motivated and focused throughout the process. I saw progress at the end of each appointment.
Leah has a non-judgmental attitude and is efficient and very patient. She also has a great sense of humor, which I appreciated. Her range of services makes it so easy to complete a project. She helped me move items from my "maybe one day" list to "done."
My expectations were met and exceeded! I used to cringe when opening my closet door and now I smile! I love my organized drawers and closets. I enjoy my time in my home more, not only because it is tidy, but also because there is an inner calm and clarity that I feel whenever I walk in the door. Other people have commented on that, too.
I would absolutely recommend all of Leah’s services. Not only did she help me de-clutter and then re-organize my things, but she also helped me resell and donate items I didn't need anymore. Bonus!

"I would definitely recommend this service to anybody but especially to people who are moving"
Space: Selling prior to a move
I was happy with my Making the Space experience.. Leah was quite present and guided me, so I was impressed. She was very professional and friendly the entire time. Leah sold most of my small items and few big items within a short timeframe. I would definitely recommend this service to anybody but especially to people who are moving.
