Why declutter and organize your space?

Studies have shown that doing so results in more free time, less frivolous spending, and a smaller waistline:

  • A Boston marketing firm found that the average American wastes 55 minutes a day looking for things they know they own but cannot find.
  • A recent study showed that people with cluttered homes were 77 percent more likely to be overweight or obese.
  • The American Cleaning Institute found that getting rid of clutter eliminates 40% of housework
  • A Harris Interactive Poll found that 23% of people pay their bills late (and thus accumulate extra fees) because they simply can’t find them

Consider some of the other benefits of organizing your space, too:

  • You won’t have to stare at (and be driven crazy by) piles in your bedroom, kitchen or office.
  • You’ll be able to find that favorite grey sweater of yours without any hassle (imagine having more time to spare in the morning!)
  • You’ll have a clear area in your home for entertaining friends and family, reading and writing, or crafting and playing your guitar.
  • You’ll  finally be able to imagine the possibility of moving or downsizing without the anxiety of having to think about all your stuff .

This all begs the question: what will you do with all your extra time, space and money?
